The Daffodils were the first of the RAAF Apprentice intakes to Swear allegance to Queen Elizabeth II and the first intake to begin training at RAAF School of Technical Training at Forrest Hill (RAAF Base Wagga). Prior to that it had been known variously as No 1  Engineering School,  RAAF Ground Training School and the RAAF Technical College in May 1950.


On the 25th April 2013 a Plaque was laid at RAAF Base Wagga to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Daffies.
