ATTENTION RAAF VIETNAM VETERANS. UPCOMING EVENTS - 50th ANNIVERSARY OF RAAF LEAVING VIETNAM

The History – Heritage of Air Force branch have advised as follows:

On 15-16 October, the Temora Aviation Museum is hosting their annual Warbirds Downunder airshow at the Temora airfield, NSW. HH-AF has arranged for a special marquee to be made available on both days in the vicinity of the TAM main hangar that will be dedicated for use by HH-AF to host up to 200 guests per day, with the guests being RAAF Vietnam vets and one family member/friend per vet. In total, 400 guests over the two days. The marquee will be catered, with HH-AF personnel in attendance to host the guests. Vets are encouraged to bring along any paraphernalia/artefacts they may have from their time in Vietnam to show others in attendance and discuss their relevance, etc.

On 29-30 October, the Ipswich Amberley Air Tattoo is being held at RAAF Amberley, QLD. HH-AF has arranged that on the two mornings between 0900 and 1200 there will be an area in the new dome hangar around the recently repainted Caribou in the Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre set aside for up to 500 guests per day – again, one RAAF Vietnam vet plus one family/friend. During this time we plan to have some book launches, presentations, abbreviated 20–30-minute oral history ‘grabs’ with vets, paraphernalia/artefact ‘show and tell’, and morning teas.

For both events, HH-AF will be able to provide free entry passes to both events and will provide a special access pass to the marquee/dome hangar.

We will only provide any vet wishing to attend with two passes – one for them and one for a guest – at either Temora or Amberley on one of the days.

If after distributing passes to those wanting them and if we have any left, we may call for people to request additional guest passes.

THOSE GETTING TICKETS FROM HH-AF DO NOT NEED TO BUY TICKETS.

If you wish to attend either of these Events, please provide me with an EOI and I will collate all responses and co-ordinate with H-H, AF in the first instance. Nominate your area of attendance please.

Should there be sufficient interest then, with the magnificent help of John Sambrook of RTFV/35 Sqn Assoc, we will organise a reunion function and also attempt to set up accommodation at a good price close to the Amberley area.

Once again, EOI’s to me please so that we can test if there is sufficient interest for organising the event.

Stay safe

Glewie
